Somalia mourns the death of Chief Justice

Mogadishu – November 24, 2010) The Somali President, Sharif Sheik Ahmed, has declared a three-day official mourning period during which flags will fly half mast following the death of Mohamoud Omar Farah (aka Indha-bur), the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Somalia on Wednesday.

Indha-bur, 68, had not been feeling well for months.

The President extended his deep condolences to the family and to the people of Somalia deeply touched by the death of Indha-bur, praying the Almighty to bestow his infinite mercy on the deceased and grant patience and solace to all.

Funeral prayers attended by the country’s leaders were offered at a Mosque in Mogadishu.

Mohamed Omar was appointed as the Chief Justice in November last year. In addition, he held several positions including Attorney General, Minister of Justice, among others. He has been known for his wisdom and contribution to Somalia’s judiciary system.
